Pilot plant Vertoro produces precious new raw material of lignine

Lignine is a plant based substance which releases in the production of paper and bio-ethanol. Usually this substance ends up in the incinerator as unusable product. It is hard to make this woodsubstance usable as raw material.

Vertoro (Spanish for green gold), established in 2017, has found a patented method which changes ligninepowder into oil. This is a raw material for other products.

This technique, developed with TU Eindhoven, Maastricht University, Brightlands, InSciTe and DSM, will be tested at the end of this year  in a pilot plant at the Bightlands Chemelot Campug at Geleen. In the beginning of 2019, the first barrel of Vertoro-oil should be rolling out of the labs. The purpose is to realize a full plant at Chemelot in 2022 with a capacity of 10.000 tons of bio-oil per year.
