My name is Alvaro Torres and since September 2017 I am working at Chemelot in the position of Business Development Manager. Before that I worked at OCI Nitrogen as Manager Purchasing. I have switched to Chemelot because I want to develop further and are now fully engaged in acquisition.
The challenge lies primarily in looking for and contacting the right companies that may want to establish themselves at the Chemelot site and that fit within the ambition stated in the Chemelot Vision 2025. The connections can be made within the various disciplines, to know the right sensitivity and act accordingly and above all have a lot of perseverance are important aspects of this job. It gives a lot of satisfaction when you can offer support to the interested party and support them with putting the right steps in the process and connecting them with the right people, so that they also feel welcome. From this role I have a real pivotal role and it is extremely fascinating and interesting to be concerned with the fact that we are all facing a major transition that determines the future of this area and of the Netherlands and beyond.
What makes this role fun and interesting is that there is no function description for it. There is no one who tells you when you must do something. It is a new function and you build it yourself. The strategy is determined, but you fill in the tactic yourself. You can largely determine entrepreneurship, perseverance and how you do this within a small and professional team.
