Energy Hills KIC For the Sustainable Energy

20.10.2009
Energy Hills had been asked by the North Rhine-Westfalia government, the RWTH Aachen and the Forschungszentrum Juelich to take the lead for submitting a proposal to the European Institute of Technology for the KIC Sustainable Energy. Energy Hills is the largest cross-border energy network in Europe. The core of Energy Hills is situated in the Aachen (D) - Heerlen (NL) region, the heart of the Meuse-Rhine region. In that network innovative businesses work hand-in-hand with top research and educational institutions on energy solutions for the future.

Energy Hills is very proud having submitted an exciting proposal and is hoping to win this 700 million EURO call. This would also boost development and innovation in the field of sustainable energy innovation in our region and in North Rhine-Westfalia (as in five more location throughout the EU). 90 partners from 11 European countries and US, among them 46 universities and research centres, have joined the consortium of Energy Hills KIC.

Many members of Energy Hills became partners and signed declarations to become integrated in this KIC. The headquarter is planned to be based in Aachen and Belgian and Dutch provinces of Limburg would benefit from becoming a "co-location-centre".

It is our intention to inform all members of Energy Hills about this very challenging project, its impact for Energy Hills and its members, but also for the future innovation process in sustainable energy innovation in Europe.

The event will take place on 20th October 2009, 19:00 at the premises of DSM/Chemelot, Mauritslaan 49, 6129 EL Urmond, The Nederland.
